چکیده
Objective: To observe the changes of peripheral blood helper T cell 9 (Th9) and interleukin-9 (IL-9) in the stable and acute exacerbation phases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) so as to investigate its effects and clinical significance in the pathogenesis of COPD. Methods: A total of 42 patients (22 patients in the acute exacerbation chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) and 20 patients in the stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (SCOPD) and 15 healthy controls were enrolled in this study to test the Th9 content by flow cytometry (FCM) and the serum IL-9 level by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: The levels of Th9 and IL-9 in Group AECOPD were significantly higher than those in Group SCOPD (0.91±0.17 vs 0.27±0.13 and 0.28±0.13, P<0.05; 3.36±2.59 vs 1.47±0.83 and 1.82±0.62, P<0.05), and the IL-9 level and the Th9 ratio in Group AECOPD showed slight positive correlation (r=0.436, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the IL-9 level and Th9 ratio in the AECOPD and SCOPD (P>0.05). Conclusions: The Th9 cells may be involved in the pathogenesis of AECOPD by secreting IL-9.

Association between IL6 gene polymorphism and the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the north Indian population
Interleukin-6 (IL6) is encoded by the IL6 gene in human and acts as pro-inflammatory cytokine and an anti-inflammatory cytokine. Recent studies established that IL6 substantially contribute in the diagnosed of systemic inflammation for the patients suffering from lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Thereof, this work aimed to investigate the prot...
متن کاملEvaluation of Interleukin17and Interleukin 23 expression in patients with active and latent tuberculosis infection
Objective(s): Tuberculosis is one of the most important infectious diseases with high mortality rates worldwide, especially in developing countries. Interleukin17 (IL-17) is an important acquired immunity cytokine, which is mainly produced by CD4+TH17 cells. It can recruit neutrophils and macrophages to the infected site in the lungs. IL-23 is one of the most important inducers of IL-17. In the...
متن کاملChanges in some pro-and anti-inflammatory cytokines produced by bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells following foot and mouth disease vaccination
Interleukin (IL)-17 is exclusively produced by CD4 helper T-cells upon activation. It most often acts as a pro-inflammatory cytokine, which stimulates the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). In this study, we studied the in-vitro IL-17 response to specific antigens and a variety of mitogens and compared the IL-1...
متن کاملEvaluation of Prognostic Factors of Mortality in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Background and Objective: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic obstructive and irreversible disease which has a high mortality and morbidity rate. Systemic inflammation and the thrombotic process can influence the prognosis of these patients. The objectives of this study were to evaluate prognostic effects of CBC indices (WBC, PMN, MPV, RDW), forced expiratory volume-one se...
